Look At Me

As Ivan grew, he bloomed into a very handsome boy. He was always smiles, but unlike his brother, he had yet to talk. My eldest, Immanuel (El), spoke as soon as he turned one. I know for a fact that the second born tends to advance faster, due to the early exposure.

Ivan was quiet, but seemed happy, so it did not concern us. Peter used to say that we should be patient, as Ivan may just be a late-bloomer.

He loved to watch Barney, and we got him lots of CDs. Our helper would play it for him, to entertain him. We didn't know how damaging prolonged TV viewing was back then. So we allowed it, I mean, the boy seemed to enjoy it, or so we thought, as he was quiet.

In this picture, you see Ivan staring straight at the camera for a picture. We had no idea that, this was to be something, we were going to pay lots of money for, and spend hours of therapy to fix. And soon, the eye contact, we take for granted, would start to deteriorate.
