Tips To Occupy Your Child At Home

As you read along, you will notice that I will have posts that are of the past and some of the present. This way, I can reach out to a wider group of people.

Ivan loves to organize stuff. He likes his area neat and tidy. He has been like that from young. As it's very important for children with special needs to learn Life Skills, this is something you can do with your child.

Once I have done the dishes, I will get Ivan to help me, wipe the cutlery and place them back. He loves doing this, but he doesn't realize that he is engaging in household chores. Instead to him, its fun. He is meticulous, with his workmanship, so I know they will be done well.

Skills
one-to-one correspondence
hand-eye co-ordination too.

Materials
forks
spoons
knives
teaspoons ,etc

You will notice that I have two designs of forks and spoons. If your child is very young, start with just one design. Here, I have transparent dividers that I got from Daiso. This is a great family activity. If you are doing it for the first time, place a sample in each slot for your child to follow.

Reward
Give your child a treat, a sticker or a privilege for doing well. If at the beginning, your child doesn't get all correct, encourage him and guide him.
